Hurt People Hurt People

Hurt people hurt people

Isn’t that crystal clear?

Instead of trust ruled by fear.

Hurt people hurt people

Forever abused to kill

Not allowed to act on their own free will.

Hurt people hurt people

When peace becomes a dirty word

And so many voices are never heard.

Hurt people hurt people

When the old destroy the young

And the world has lost another song.

Hurt people hurt people

Too ashamed to speak the truth

And no one to advocate for the youth.

Hurt people hurt people

The way they hurt the land

When another dream was built on sand.

Hurt people hurt people

Who know how to use a gun

Without knowing how to love someone.

Hurt people hurt people

When rape becomes a weapon

And safety is nowhere to be found.

Hurt people hurt people

Terrorising their neighbourhood

Desperately trying to be good.

Hurt people hurt people

When children kill parents

And friends turn against friends.

Hurt people hurt people

When governments fail

And the wrong ones are thrown into jail.

Hurt people hurt people

While the world stands idly by

And no one hears them cry.

Hurt people hurt people

And the violence cycles on

Is all compassion and love long gone?

Hurt people hurt people

When the trauma sits deep

When the ghosts of the past still steal their sleep.

Hurt people hurt people

While wanting to heal

Overwhelmed by the pain they feel.

Hurt people hurt people

And the world will never be the same

And we just have ourselves to blame.

Hurt people hurt people

Leading to never-ending wars

Between people bearing invisible scars.

Hurt people hurt people

When will this cycle ever end?

Unbearable to witness, impossible to comprehend.
